Wind Creek Casino & Hotel Montgomery sits off I-85 at the eastern edge of the state capital, on a bend of the Tallapoosa River. Google users give it 4.2 from more than 12,700 reviews, a tenth below its two sister properties, and the gap is mostly explained by scale: this is the smallest of the three Wind Creek hotels by a wide margin.
What it has that the others lack is a blues club with a story attached.
A piece of Memphis in Alabama
When the tribe spent 65 million dollars expanding this property, the architects were asked to recreate a stretch of Beale Street indoors. The result is B.B. King's Blues Club, which opened with the expansion on 1 December 2015: a brick-fronted streetscape inside the casino, live bands from early evening seven nights a week and a rotating roster of more than 60 acts.
The fine-dining room beside it is called Itta Bena, after the Mississippi Delta town where Riley B. King was born in 1925, and the 24-hour café is Lucille's Eatery, named for his guitar. It is a themed restaurant trio, and themed restaurants can be dreadful, but this one is executed with more care than the genre usually gets, and the music is real.
From bingo hall to resort
The site began on 1 September 2001 as the Tallapoosa Entertainment Center, a bingo hall the Poarch Band ran while its Atmore operation grew. It was renamed Creek Casino Montgomery, expanded in phases from 2011, and rebranded Wind Creek Montgomery when the expansion and a five-storey, 123-room hotel opened in December 2015. The hotel arrived 14 years after the bingo hall, which is why the property reads as a casino with rooms attached rather than the reverse.
Those 123 rooms include eight suites; the hotel adds an infinity pool, an events centre, the Golden Shears salon and a barbershop. Standards are comfortable rather than lavish. The unexpected extra is Aroostook Golf Course, an 18-hole layout along the river whose name is a Creek word for "beautiful water".
The tribe's wider footprint is considerable. The Poarch Band reported more than four billion dollars of economic impact in Alabama for 2023 and over 7,400 jobs in the state across gaming, manufacturing and technology. In April 2025 its hospitality arm completed the purchase of the Birmingham Race Course from the McGregor family, adding a fourth Alabama venue and its first with pari-mutuel racing.
What you can play
The gaming floor is 65,000 square feet with roughly 2,200 machines, a high-limit room and a separate non-smoking room.
Every machine is an electronic bingo machine. The tribe has no compact with Alabama, so it is confined to Class II gaming under federal law: bingo, and devices that present bingo outcomes on a screen. The cabinets and sound design are indistinguishable from a commercial slot floor. The game underneath is not. There are no live table games here or at any Wind Creek in the state.
Tips before you go
You must be 21 to enter the gaming floor; photo ID is checked. The hotel, restaurants and club admit all ages, and B.B. King's in particular draws a mixed crowd.
Gaming is available 24 hours; restaurants keep their own schedules. The address is 1801 Eddie L. Tullis Road, named for the tribal chairman who led the Poarch Band through federal recognition, a few minutes from I-85.
Wind Creek Rewards is shared across Atmore, Wetumpka and Montgomery. The number for the property is (866) 946-3360.
Nearby alternatives
Wind Creek Wetumpka, 20 miles north, is the larger floor and the better hotel. VictoryLand is 16 miles east along I-85 at exit 22 and offers something different: historical horse racing terminals on a pari-mutuel licence, plus simulcast racing. Wind Creek Atmore, where the tribe began, is two and a half hours south.
