Every Alabama gaming venue runs the same two machine types and none of them deals a card, so the floor is not what separates them. What separates them is everything built around it, and the gap is enormous: one property has a cinema, a spa and a cooking school, while another has a simulcast room and a car park. We checked the amenity lists on all five venue pages in September 2026 and lined them up.

Atmore is the outlier
The Poarch Band opened the Creek Bingo Palace at Atmore on 13 April 1985 and replaced it with the current resort on 6 January 2009. What went up was not a bigger bingo hall. The 17-storey tower carries a AAA Four Diamond rating, and the list attached to it reads like a small holiday resort: a 12,000-square-foot spa, an infinity pool, a 16-lane bowling alley, a 48-game arcade, a cinema with 3D screenings, a Full Swing golf simulator, and a 2,000-seat outdoor amphitheatre for touring acts.
The strangest item is the Culinary Studio, a teaching kitchen where guests book hands-on classes. Very few casinos anywhere in the country run one, and it is the single clearest signal that the property is built for people who are not on the floor. Dining is led by the Fire Steakhouse brand, with a market and a coffee counter covering the rest of the day, and an RV park with 20 full hook-ups takes guests who bring their own bed. Montgomery bought a night out instead
Montgomery has the smallest hotel of the three Wind Creek properties at 123 rooms, and it went in a completely different direction. A $65 million expansion opened on 1 December 2015 built a blues club indoors: a brick-fronted recreation of a Beale Street room with live bands seven nights a week. The gaming floor runs about 65,000 square feet with roughly 2,200 machines, a high-limit room and a separate non-smoking room.
That trade is worth understanding before you book. Atmore is better than Montgomery for a weekend with a family, because the bowling, arcade, cinema and pool give under-21s somewhere to be while the floor is off limits to them. Wetumpka sells the floor and the river
Wetumpka is the largest gaming floor in the state at 85,000 square feet, built for a reported $246 million and opened in December 2013, with a 20-storey, 283-room tower on the Coosa River about 25 minutes from Montgomery. Its amenity list is thinner than Atmore's, and the property leans on scale and setting instead. The two racetracks offer almost nothing
Be plain about this before you drive. VictoryLand at Shorter opened a 300-room hotel called the Oasis in November 2009; it closed nine months later and has never reopened. What remains is roughly 500 historical horse racing terminals and a simulcast operation. Birmingham Race Course, an $85 million thoroughbred track when it opened in 1987, ended greyhound racing in April 2020 and now runs more than 300 HHR terminals plus a year-round simulcast room just off I-459, with free parking.
Neither is a resort and neither pretends to be. They are gaming rooms with a betting window attached, and both are worth a stop only if HHR terminals or a simulcast card are specifically what you want. See the VictoryLand and Birmingham Race Course pages.
One card across three properties
